Mizuho Americas Open

A young LPGA event with an identity all its own, bringing together the game's best, its next generation, and a tournament experience unlike anything else on the schedule.

Lean into what makes it different.

For the past three years, I've led social strategy for the Mizuho Americas Open with a simple approach: identify the things fans can't get anywhere else and build the storytelling around them.

At Liberty National, that meant leaning into an unmistakable New York identity, Manhattan across the Hudson, players and fans arriving by ferry, and one of the most distinctive backdrops in professional golf. Beyond the setting, tournament host Michelle Wie West and the unique format pairing LPGA professionals with AJGA juniors gave us even more ways to establish a personality for a young event still building its traditions.

Rather than trying to make Mizuho look like every other tournament, the goal has been to make it unmistakably Mizuho.

A new setting. A new opportunity.

The move to Mountain Ridge Country Club changed one of the tournament's most recognizable visual elements, shifting the storytelling away from the New York City backdrop that had helped define its first years at Liberty National.

But 2026 brought something new: tournament host Michelle Wie West stepped inside the ropes to compete in her own event for the first time. Her return created a natural storyline throughout the week and an opportunity to build content around a familiar face experiencing the championship in an entirely different way.

With a new venue and a new chapter for its host, the strategy evolved with the tournament, finding fresh ways to highlight the people and moments that continue to make Mizuho distinctive.

Tournament week is only one week.

Building an event's social presence doesn't stop when the final putt drops.

Each offseason, I've continued the conversation through recurring content like #TopShotTuesday, turning our library of tournament highlights into a simple, repeatable series featuring standout shots from players in the field.

It's intentionally uncomplicated: great golf, recognizable players, and moments fans already want to watch. The series has generated thousands of additional views while keeping the tournament active in the feed long after championship week ends.

Last off-season the #TopShotTuesday series produced 930K total impressions.

Award-winning work.

The Mizuho Americas Open was recognized by the LPGA with Best Advertising/Social Media Campaign, celebrating a year-long approach to building awareness and extending the tournament's reach beyond the golf course.

The winning campaign combined social storytelling with high-profile moments across New York, from Michelle Wie West's appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and a first-pitch experience with Wie West and Rose Zhang at Yankee Stadium to the tournament's unmistakable branded ferry connecting New York City with Liberty National.

It was recognition of a campaign built around the same idea that has guided my social strategy from the beginning: lean into what makes the Mizuho Americas Open different.
